How do our ears tell us where sound comes from? Overview Detail Research Progress Future

The project is due to be completed and written up by 13th June. The bulk of the work that remains to be done is in deciding exactly how to display the data, in consultation with the researchers who will be analysing it.

One target is to have a working subset of the solution for demonstration during the assesed presentation on March 9th. This is likely to be before real simulation data is available, but a demonstration could be done with existing head models, possibly peturbed by hand.

Depending on how much time is available it may be possible to extend the project in two directions: both further back in the pipeline, in assisting with the analysis and transfer of data between stages, particularly in cleaning up the laser scanned meshes, and further forward. This might be by extending the solution to provide a presentation-friendly display of the results which could be used to display the group's work to the wider world. This might include non-real-time renderings of results as well as interactive data exploration.
